L’Ecole #41 Semillon 2007,
Columbia Valley, Washington
7.5 glass/28 bottle
L'Ecole Nº 41 has been making Semillon since 1983 and is recognized in the industry as one of the top producers of this varietal. Few Semillons show their richness and complexitiy as those produced in Washington State. Picked late in the season when this varietal's unique character is fully developed, the wine is barrel fermented to dryness and aged on the lees up to six months. Barrel fermentation with a limited amount of new tight-grained French oak, results in a full-bodied rich texture with rich honey fruit, citrus and fresh fig flavors. |

Campo Negro Malbec
Argentina
8.5 glass/30 bottle |
The 2006 vintage is the first release of the Campo Negro wines. The Campo Negro Malbec started 2 years ago with the selection of the best plots of malbec that the winery owns and then by carefully selecting the best and more expressive barrels once in the winery. The rest of the wine destined to the Campo Negro program that does not make the quality cut proposed by Cristian is “declassified” and moved into the Finca el Reposo Malbec. This malbec comes from the Federico Villafane vineyard, which is located in the most sought after place to get grapes of malbec today in Argentina: the district of La Consulta, in the heart of the Uco Valley.
Fifty percent of this wine spends between 10 to 14 months in new oak (90% French and 10% American oak) and then at least one year in the bottle before being released to the market. Only 250 cases produced. |
