Maya Devi

I have been drawing since I was a child and my love for drawing turned into a love of painting once I entered High school. I have studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I was very influenced by abstract impressionism and artists such as Edvard Munch, Frida Kahlo, Chagall, Modigliani, Picasso and many others. My art is most basically a representation of the mood I happen to be in at the time. Although my paintings seem to be mainly portraits-to me they are all much more then just pretty faces. Whatever my paintings might mean to me however I keep a secret (most of the time) and leave the meaning of it up to the viewer so it can become something completely personal and unique to them.
